PRACTICAL GUIDE · 6 MIN READ

Change service without losing control.

Your BoatTracker hardware is unlocked. We would like you to stay, but you are free to use another compatible provider or service. Export your records and plan the new connection before ending the old one.

Identify the hardware first

A case colour or app name does not identify a protocol. Find the exact model, variant, firmware and configuration guide. A locked or white-label tracker may not support an independent endpoint.

Check your authority

Confirm you own or are authorised to configure the device. A serial number is not enough to claim someone else’s hardware. Remove old account bindings through the relevant provider.

Plan SIM and endpoint changes

Check mobile bands, data and command requirements, the APN and the supported server protocol. Our supplied IoT SIM belongs to the BoatTracker service arrangement. When moving away, arrange a suitable replacement SIM and endpoint with the new provider. The hardware remains yours to configure.

Test before ending the old arrangement

After a supported configuration change, verify fresh contact, a new fix and a recipient test. Keep an export of your authorised history. Document the old service cancellation and any remaining charges separately.
