Understand a movement alert.

Yes, movement alerts are part of the service design. Useful alerts need a fresh starting position and sensible rules.

Choose moored protection

When the boat is settled, review the latest fix and enable moored protection. The service compares subsequent reports with the chosen boundary and the supported detection profile. An old fix should prevent silent activation.

Allow for GPS drift

A stationary tracker may report slightly different coordinates. A tested radius, multiple fixes and sensible filtering reduce nuisance alerts. A boundary is not an exact line painted on the water.

Know when the alert happened

The event time, service receipt and notification delivery are separate. A tracker may buffer reports while offline. Delayed movement is labelled with its original event time.

Verify the people who matter

Each recipient verifies their channel and requests a delivery test. “Sent” does not prove “delivered”, and delivery does not prove anyone read the message. Tracking is not a monitored emergency or recovery service.
