PRACTICAL GUIDE · 4 MIN READ

Share with a person, not the whole internet.

Your partner, a boat sitter and your marina may each need something different. Named permissions keep those arrangements clear.

Give each person their own invitation

Choose a verified named account rather than sharing a password. Read the boat, role and expiry before accepting or sending an invitation.

Separate alerts from viewing

An alert-only recipient does not automatically receive a live map or journey history. Viewing status, seeing history, managing protection and paying for the service are separate permissions.

Treat community groups as communities

A marina Facebook group or WhatsApp chat does not establish authority to view boats. Do not publish tracking links, claim codes or private location details into a group.

End access when the arrangement ends

Remove a boat sitter’s access after the agreed period. Check sessions, pending invitations and any export permissions. Selling a boat uses the dedicated handover route, with previous private history excluded by default.
